Terms of Service

These terms govern use of Cobalt Science (cobaltscience.com), operated by Gravitas Publications, Inc. ("we," "us"), publisher of Real Science-4-Kids. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

1. The service

Cobalt Science provides K–5 science lessons — videos, teacher lesson text, printable worksheets, quizzes, and assessments — together with rostering, progress tracking, and reporting dashboards for teachers, schools, districts, and homeschool families.

2. Accounts

• Teachers and administrators must sign up with a valid email and are responsible for activity under their account.
• Students are added only by their teacher (or, on family accounts, their parent/guardian). Students sign in with a class code and password, or school-managed email/single sign-on.
• Family accounts: by adding students to a family account, you confirm you are the parent or legal guardian of those children and consent to their use of the service as described in our Privacy Policy.
• Keep credentials confidential; tell us promptly about any unauthorized use.

3. Licenses, purchases, and trials

• Families purchase an annual subscription through our Shopify checkout. Payments are processed by Shopify; subscriptions renew annually until canceled.
• Schools and districts license the service by purchase order or invoice, with seats and term stated on the order. Seat limits are enforced by the platform.
• Free trials run 7 days with limited seats and with worksheet/answer-key downloads disabled. We may end or extend trials at our discretion. Trial data carries over on upgrade.
• Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable once the license term has started; contact us and we'll try to be reasonable.

4. Acceptable use

• Lesson content, videos, worksheets, and answer keys are our copyrighted material, licensed for use within your licensed classroom, school, district, or family — not for redistribution, resale, or public posting.
• No sharing accounts or codes beyond your licensed users; no attempting to access data or roles beyond your own (e.g., another teacher's class); no scraping, reverse engineering, or interfering with the service.
• Schools and teachers must only enter the student data the product asks for (display label, grade, password) — never additional personal information in those fields.

5. Student data

Student data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms. For school and district customers, a signed student data privacy agreement (e.g., SDPC/NDPA) supplements these terms and controls where it conflicts.

6. Availability and changes

We work to keep the service fast and available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may improve or change features over time; we will not materially reduce a paid license's core functionality during its term.

7. Termination

You may cancel at any time (families: via Shopify subscription management; schools: per your order terms). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination, data export and deletion follow the Privacy Policy's retention schedule.

8. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Gravitas Publications, Inc. is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These terms plus any signed school/district agreement are the entire agreement.
